Additional free parking bays for pedicabs
Maria Hardwick made this Freedom of Information request to Westminster City Council

Dear Sir or Madam,
I note that from this news article http://nutsville.com/?p=439 that
Westminster City Council propose to introduce up to 30 free parking
bays for the use of private hire pedicab owners.
As the council has said that kerb space is at a premium in the
borough of Westminster, and the parking tax imposed on
motorcyclists is to cover the cost of providing kerbside bays,
please could you answer the following:-
1)What is the proposed cost of providing free parking bays for
pedicabs up until now and for the next 12 months?
2)How is the cost of providing and maintaining these free bays to
be recouped from each individual pedicab rider?
3)If no revenue is to be sought from each individual private hire
pedicab rider, where will the costs on installation and ongoing
maintenance?
4)What consultation has preceded this decision with residents of
the wards where these bays are to be sited?
5)Where do the council propose, and have planned to site these
bays?
6)Will any existing parking bays be removed? (whether taxi,
disabled, residents parking or solo motorcycle bays).
Yours faithfully,
Maria Hardwick
Westminster City Council
