Addenbrooke's Hospital Renal Department Internal & External Investigations

Helga Warzecha made this Freedom of Information request to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The request was successful.

From: Helga Warzecha

16 January 2012

Dear Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,

Could you let me know how many investigations, both external and
internal have taken place in the Renal Department of Addenbrooke's
Hospital including their Dialysis Units and Renal Wards in the
years from 2002 until the present day?

How many of these investigations resulted in change of patient
management?

Yours faithfully,

Helga Warzecha

Dear Freedom of Information Contact,

Thank you for your letter. Clarification as requested.

How many investigations,(from 2002 until the present day) both by
the hospital authorities themselves and external bodies such as the
Care Quality Commission have been conducted in the Renal Department
including the Dialysis Units at Addenbrooke’s Hospital resulting
form either:
A.)complaints received and
B.) incidents or events as a result of Nursing, Medical and
Procedural competency picked up internally (whistleblowers
included).

What were the outcomes of all these enquiries: i.e. were there
changes of procedure, and or disciplining, suspension or dismissals
of staff?

Yours sincerely,

Helga Warzecha

Dear Freedom of Information Contact,

Thank you for the information.

However I was told in September 2011 that here was a QCC
investigation ongoing. Has this not been completed?

Yours sincerely,

Helga Warzecha
