Dear Mr Balinger,

The document you have referred me to at

is entitled

MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF LORDS,
MEPs AND MEMBERS OF DEVOLVED
ASSEMBLIES:
GUIDANCE FOR DEPARTMENTS

It does not cover the handling of correspondence from members of
the public

You have not therefore provided me with the information I have
requested.

(In future if you are sending me any web links please do so in a
form where they can be actioned directly)

I look forward to receiving your response via whatdotheyknow.com

Dear Mr Silverman

Paragraph 12 of the guidance makes clear that when handling correspondence from members of the public departments should adhere to the same principles set out in the guidance on handling Members' correspondence. Each Government department will publish their own internal guidance for their staff on handling correspondence from members of the public.

I hope this is helpful.

Dear Mr Ballinger,

In view of the misleading title of the document (no mention of the
public only MPs etc) it would have been helpful if you had said in
your response that the procedures for the public were covered in
section 12

Yours faithfully,

Peter Silverman
