Dear Ministry of Defence,
The ACSM Royal Warrant states that the medal is issued for service
of 36 months (1,080 days) except for members of the Royal Irish
Regiment (RIR) who must complete 1,000 duties (fourthly section).
Given this difference, please advise if any RIR ACSM applicants
have had their applications turned down because they have
incorrectly been assessed as not completing 1,080 duties instead of
the 1,000?
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours faithfully,
Gavin Bamford

Dear Mr Bamford,
Thank you for your FOI request below dated 1 March.
I should be grateful if you could provide clarification of your question
please.
Although part-time R Irish personnel have to complete 1000 days to
qualify for the ACSM, those who served full time have to complete 1080
days service. In light of this am I right to assume that you are
interested solely in applications from part-time members?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards

Dear SPVA-DCS-Secretariat-Inns-Mgr1,
Thank you for your response requesting clarification.
With the distinct difference in 1,000 & 1,080 days, my concern is
that errors could creep in to the system. I have no doubt that
there are checks etc but would welcome confirmation that no
mistakes have ever been made to the part-timers who only require
1,000 days?
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Gavin Bamford
