For the admission years of 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, how many first year
(including "foundation year") students arrived in September who did not
have a space in halls from September?

    

In addition, what was the rate of drop out within this group?

Dear Cal Paterson,

I am writing in response to your recent request for information under the
Freedom of Information Act.  Please accept my sincere apologies for the
slight delay in responding.

For the admission years of 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, how many first year
(including "foundation year") students arrived in September who did not
have a space in halls from September?

2008/09 intake

47 first year students arrived who did not have a place in Residence for
2008/09.  These students went into temporary accommodation at the start
of term.

2009/10 intake

No first year students arrived who did not have a place in Residence for
2009/10.

    

In addition, what was the rate of drop out within this group?

Of those 47 students from the 2008/09 intake, 1 has temporarily withdrawn
and 11 have permanently withdrawn.  Of those 11 permanent withdrawals, 1
student has subsequently re-registered with the University.
