Accidents on the Silver Jubilee Bridge

E Jones made this Freedom of Information request to Halton Borough Council

Halton Borough Council did not have the information requested.

From: E Jones

25 May 2011

Dear Halton Borough Council,

I require information held regarding road traffic accidents,
incidents and so on that occurred in the area of the Silver Jubilee
Bridge over the last 2 years, separated into months. I realise that
not all accidents will be recorded by yourselves, but I believe
that any incident that resulted in damage to the road traffic
infrastructure will be recorded as a minimum.

For each incident or accident, I also require information about the
status of the road works taking place in this area. Whether the
road works and lane closures where in place, and how close they
where to the scene of the incident.

Yours faithfully,

E Jones

Dear Johnson, Steve - HT&L,

I believe that you have a duty to collect information from
incidents that results in damage to the road system or
infrastructure - for example to allow a driver to be charged for
damage caused to a crash barrier in an accident. Can you please
clarify if this is indeed the councils policy, and if so supply the
relevant information.

Yours sincerely,

E Jones

Dear Sir/Madam,

This Council does not collect or source traffic collision information,
this activity is undertaken by Cheshire Police. The Police pass on a
limited subset of this data relating to some aspects of traffic
incidents that involve personal injury.

The Police also convey some information on accidents in which highway
assets are damaged, where they have this information. The Council does
recharge where possible for damage, however this information is not held
centrally. If your request is in relation to damage to traffic
management equipment, then this would not be held by the Council as it
is dealt with by the relevant contractor.

Best regards,

S. Johnson
