Accident data

Rob Blackie made this Freedom of Information request to Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

The request was successful.

From: Rob Blackie

25 June 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would also be interested in whether you have traffic accident
statistics for the Loughborough Junction area, and if not who you
would suggest contacting. The Loughborough junction area is roughly
where the SE24, SE5 and SW9 postcode areas meet, around
Loughborough junction railway station.

Many thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Rob Blackie

Dear Sir or Madam,

thank you very much indeed for the information.

Three brief follow up requests.

Firstly from this I assume that you have the data on the junction
of Coldharbour lane and Hinton Road?

Secondly can you direct me to where I can find out how these sorts
of accidents are defined?

Thirdly can you direct me to where I can find out how this
benchmarks against other junctions?

All the best,

Rob Blackie

Dear Mr Blackie,
See below from our Traffic Management unit.

Hinton Road forms part of Coldharbour Lane/Loughborough Road junction
and as such collisions here are included in the figures already
supplied.
I have attached an extract from stats 20 (Department of Transports
instructions for the completion of road accident reports) which explains
the definition of a casualty severity, Mr Blackie can access the DfT
website for the full version.

Comparing one junction with another (benchmarking) is problematic
because each junction is unique in its construction however if Mr
Blackie would like to identify other junction which he thinks are
comparable then we can supply statistics for those.

I hope this helps.
Regards,
Eric
