Access to Death Records
Miss E Smith made this Freedom of Information request to General Register Office
The request was refused by General Register Office.
From: Miss E Smith
23 September 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I understand the General Register Office holds indexes of all
deaths registered in England and Wales from 1837 to present day.
I also understand death records after 2006 can only be searched in
a restricted number of locations in the UK, none of which are near
my home.
I would like you to provide me with a complete list of all deaths
registered in England and Wales from 2007 to present day,
preferably in electronic format.
There are no Data Protection issues as this Act only applies to
living people as I am sure you are aware.
Yours faithfully,
Miss E Smith
