You have requested the following information:

The total annual cost of maintaining library subscriptions to all academic
journals, in any format, from 2005 to the present.

I have forwarded your request to appropriate members of staff. In
accordance with the Act, The University will respond to your request
within 20 working days and no later than 4^th April 2011. This takes
account of any Scottish Bank holidays that fall within this timescale.

The total annual cost of maintaining library subscriptions to all academic
journals, in any format, from 2005 to the present.

Our response

With regard to your request for information:

Please find below the total annual cost of maintaining library
subscriptions to all academic journals for each financial year since 2005.

Please note the increased spend is due to the rising cost of journals
subscriptions. The University Library subscriptions are under rigorous
scrutiny on an annual basis.

2005/06 **605,457

2006/07 **614,549

2007/08 **653,403

2008/09 **754,262

2009/10 **747,937

2010/11 Unavailable at present, as the financial year ends on 31/7/11.

Your right to seek review of our decision

If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from 4^th April 2011 in which to request a
review of our decision. Any request should be put in writing and should be
sent to Ann Jones, FOI Officer, at the address detailed at the bottom of
this email. The request should:

(a) detail your request for a review of our decision to be undertaken;

(b) describe the nature of your original request; and

(c) explain the reasons why you are dissatisfied with our response.
