Dear Cheshire Police Authority,
Over the past 2 years I have been receiving a number of offensive
text messages from the following 02 mobile phone number:[mobile
phone number removed] . I have tried every means possible to
identify the person but without success. I have taken advice from a
retired police officer who has recommended that I should contact
you as under the Freedom of Information act, I am entitled to know
who is causing such distress. Should you be able to identify the
source then through the local constabulary further action may be
taken against the perpatrator.

Dear Ms Schofield,
I refer to your recent request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 as set out below:
Over the past 2 years I have been receiving a number of offensive text
messages from the following 02 mobile phone number:[mobile phone number
removed]. I have tried every means possible to identify the person but
without success. I have taken advice from a retired police officer who
has recommended that I should contact you as under the Freedom of
Information act, I am entitled to know who is causing such distress. Should
you be able to identify the source then through the local constabulary
further action may be taken against the perpetrator.
In accordance with section 1(1) (a) of the Act our response is provided
below;
Dealing with your Freedom of Information request firstly. I have to point
out that as it stands the Constabulary does not hold any information
relating to your complaint.
I should also point out for your future reference that there are exemptions
under the Act relating to the disclosure of personal data. If you wish to
communicate with the Constabulary regarding the issue you are currently
concerned about you should do so in person or by using the 'contact us'
details on our web site. This will ensure confidentiality.

However I can also inform you that the contents of your email have been
passed to the police area were you reside for their attention.
If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please do not

Station and if so, what telephone number should I use? Can the
identity of the owner of the mobile phone be passed on to me? Is

Thank you for your further email. If you wish to make contact with
Macclesfield Police Station you can ring the Constabulary's new
non-emergency number which is 101 they should be able to put you through.
