available centrally.

was done?"
There is a policy in existence which covers instances where no interview
takes place which is as follows:
Pre-Assessment Activity
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
10.7 Application Form Selection Only
The internal selection process for police officers and police staff roles
will normally conclude with an interview. However, in cases where only one
application is received for a role, and the role is not subject to a
corporate recruitment process such as those for F&R Managers /
Intelligence Analysts, a sift panel has the option of selecting an
applicant without the need for an interview.
This is also appropriate in cases of promotion / progression, particularly
if the applicant is currently temporarily promoted into the role and meets
the published criteria. In all cases the recruiter must fully evidence and
be able to justify their decision.
Where a sift panel wish to undertake a paper-based selection process, each
element of this Standard Operating Procedure must be followed as it is
essential that decisions are recorded and fully evidenced
