Abolition of Quangos

William Olde made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Transport

The request was partially successful.

From: William Olde

4 July 2011

Dear Department for Transport,

Further to my earlier request for information about British Rail
Business Systems, you referred me to the British Railways Board
Residuary. I hadn't realised that BR was still in existence and so
researched the organisation and noted that it has been classified
as a quango to abolish as part of the 'bonfire of the quangos' of
2010.

With regards to this, under the FOIA please confirm: - for the
organisations the DfT controls:

* THe original list of quangos / organisations to be closed
* Those which have closed or been transferred elsewhere
* Those which remain open
* Of those that remain open, the expected closure date.
* Any organisations originally on the list and under review with a
view to keeping open, or which have been saved.
* Any organisations not on the list and which have closed or
considered for closure.

Specifically in terms of BRBR:

* Any project closure documentation including identification of
current activities and where it is proposed that these are to be
transferred to.
* Any business cases, Project Initiation Documents, Project Briefs,
Project Plans or similar.

Yours faithfully,

William Olde
