This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Ben Stanley to read a recent response and update the status.
From: Ben Stanley
11 January 2012
Dear North Yorkshire Police,
I would like to see a list of all the 999 calls that were made to
the force control room, York, for the last three months of 2011,
including the nature of each emergency call and what action was
taken.
Please note, this does not aim to criticize the Police, but to
highlight time wasters.
Yours faithfully,
Ben Stanley

Mr Stanley
I write in connection with your request for information which was
received by North Yorkshire Police on 11 January 2012, as detailed
below.
Your request will now be considered in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (the Act). You will receive a response within the
statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act, subject to
the information not being exempt or containing a reference to a third
party. In some circumstances North Yorkshire Police may be unable to
achieve this deadline. If this is likely you will be informed and given
a revised time-scale at the earliest opportunity.
There may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and provision of
the information you request. If this is the case you will be informed
and the 20 working day timescale will be suspended until we receive
payment from you. If you choose not to make payment then your request
will remain unanswered.
Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to
another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest
possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.
Your attention is drawn to the attached sheet which details your right
of complaint.
Should you have any queries concerning this matter, please write quoting

Mr Stanley
I apologise that you have not yet received a response to your FOI
request. We have recently received a high volume of requests which has
unfortunately effected our response times. Progress has been made on
your request and it is receiving priority attention, so hopefully a
response will be with you in the near future, however I can not be
specific regarding time scales.
Many Thanks

Dear Helen Williams
Thank you for your reply. I understand the reason for refusal, I
presumed the subject matter of all 999 calls would be logged in
written form at the time of each call.
Would it help to reduce the time scale I am requesting? For example
just one week rather than three months.
I would very much like some examples of time wasting calls if that
is possible.
Yours sincerely,
Ben Stanley

Dear Mr Stanley
I write further to your email of 28 February 2012 and note that you would like to refine your request.
Due to the high volume of calls received even if you reduced the scope of your request to one week we would still need to listen to several thousand calls to extract those relevant to your request and this would exceed the appropriate level under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I have requested details of time wasting calls and will forward a response in this regard as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely
