I am writing to you in connection with the Freedom of Information request that you 
recently submitted. I have copied your request below for ease of reference.  I am very 
sorry for the delay in contacting you regarding this.  However, following initial 
enquiries in respect of your request it has become apparent that HMRC requires 
additional information from you in order to process this. 
 
In particular, HMRC needs to know whether you require this information in relation to 
direct or indirect taxes, and whether your query includes payments in respect of  
excise or duty.  Clarification of this is necessary to assist in the trace and retrieval of 
the information.
