FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST
I write in response to your Freedom of Information request of 31st March 2009. You asked for the following information:-
The number of persons in the local authority of compulsory school age who are, or claimed to be, electively home educated and who have been either suspected or found to be involved in child abuse, neglect, forced marriage, sexual exploitation or domestic servitude.
There are 58 children/young people currently electively home educated in Sefton.
One of these children/young people is subject to a Child Protection Plan and six children/young people have been suspected of being subject to neglect or abuse.
How many (if any) Serious Case Reviews or Joint Area Reviews have reported with respect to home educated children in the LA.
There are no Serious Case Reviews which contain references to home educated children in the local authority.
