Request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Thank you for your email received on 28 March 2009 requesting that the following information be provided to you:
“1 Can you tell me you're suppliers for Library books.
2 What is the cost of buying a new book from them.
3 What services do they offer.”
The Council is treating your request as a request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
The information which you have requested is as follows:
Point 1
A list of suppliers of library books used by the Council is contained in the attached spreadsheet.
Point 2
As every book is different there is no set price. The cost of a new book is calculated as the published price minus discount or special deal. The supplier companies do not charge the Council for the book ordering service.
Point 3
A list of services offered by suppliers of library books is contained in the attached spreadsheet.
Please note that all information relating to Community Libraries can be obtained from Culture and Sport Glasgow which is now a separate entity to the Council. You can make a Freedom of Information request to them by contacting:
