Dear Mr Clowrey,
Freedom of Information Request - RFI20090494 Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”) received on 25 March
2009 seeking the following information:
‘… a list of all those working for the bbc that have taken part in common purpose charity training’
We have searched our central training records and found that there is a record of only four local radio
staff having attended the training between 2005 and 2007. These staff are Ben Thompson, John Clayton,
Alison Brown and Mia Costello.
However, as not all training is recorded centrally, in order to respond in full to your request the BBC
would need to carry out an audit of each of its departments to check their local training records. As there
are over 20,000 staff currently at the BBC, we estimate that to carry out this search would take more than
two and a half days. Under section 12 of the Act, we are allowed to refuse to handle the request if it
would exceed the appropriate limit. The appropriate limit has been set by the Regulations (SI 2004/3244)
as being £450 (equivalent to two and a half days work, at an hourly rate of £25). On this basis we cannot
provide you with an exhaustive list of BBC staff who have attended Common Purpose training events.
I hope this response satisfies your request.
