Dear Mr Batsworth,
Re: Freedom of Information request
I write in connection to your recent request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
You have specifically requested the following:
“Please provide summary information on all expenditure to date related to the London 2012 Olympics, incurred and funded by the Council. This should include staff salaries, elected officials expenses, other administration and publicity expenses, funding of events and of any projects or initiatives in any way related to the Olympics”.
I can confirm that the Council holds some of the information that you have requested in relation to the expenditure relating to the London 2012 Olympics. Attached herewith is the expenditure as requested however, I have been informed by the relevant department that this information does not give an accurate reflection of the overall expenditure towards the 2012 Olympics.
The reason for this is that whilst the Council has these figures for the 2012 Team, the scope of the work relating to the games is extensive such that many officers throughout the authority are undertaking work in relation to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, in addition to their current roles. This would be practically impossible to measure.
The Neighbourhood Renewal Funding (NRF) was used to fund the work of the 2012 Team for the first 2 years of their existence. The 2012 Team has now been embedded into the Council staffing structures and the authority is funding staffing costs however the Team is still heavily dependent on external funding to deliver its projects and programmes.
As with each of the host Boroughs, the Council has made an annual contribution to the work of the 5 Borough Unit.
I trust that this satisfies your request sufficiently, however, if you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, you have the right to request a review of the Council's response to your request for information within 28 days of the date of this letter. If you have such a request, you may contact the:

If you remain unsatisfied with the outcome of that complaint, you may seek further recourse by lodging an appeal with the Information Commissioner.
