Dear Mr Batsworth
Following your first Freedom of Information request (ref. LBH47144-09) regarding council expenditure on the Olympic-related activity, I now write to respond to your subsequent request, namely a statements of accounts for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Unit and details of expenditure relating to the Office of the 5 Host Boroughs.
The following break down relates to the annual budget for Hackney Council's 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games Unit, for 2006/07 and 2007/08. The year end accounts for 2008/09 are in the process of being prepared and audited, and will not be available until the end of September.

The level of activity within the 2012 Unit gathered pace in 2007/08. The staffing budget increased significantly in 2007/08, and the team moved premises which incurred rent charges. Savings on supplier and services helped to reduce the total outturn for 2007/08.
Hackney Council contributed £100,000 in 2006/07 and 2007/08 towards the running costs of the Office of the 5 Host Boroughs, as did the four other borough partners.
