FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST 30-06-2008-065556-003
1. Thank you for your request for information, received on 29 June 2008, in which you asked the following:
Please provide details of all the ways in which 34 (N) Signal Regiment
(Volunteers), Middlesbrough has sponsored Common Purpose
together with copies of all correspondence (emails, letters etc) between
34 (N) Signal Regiment (Volunteers), Middlesbrough and Common Purpose.
2. This has been treated as a request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (2000) and following my letter to you dated 10 July 2008 I have now completed researching your request.
3. Enclosed is a copy of the Administrative Instruction that was issued by 34 (Northern) Signal Regiment(V) (less Enslosure 1, providing information about Common Purpose, that has not been retained). The previous Commanding Officer of 34 Signal Regiment was personally actively involved with the training programme that Common Purpose was running in 2006. As one element of the continuing efforts to foster good relations with the local community the Commanding Officer agreed to hold a Study Day at the Territorial Army Centre at Brambles Farm.
4. There have been no further contacts with Common Purpose since November 2006.
5. If you are dissatisfied with this response or wish to complain about any aspect of the handling of this request, then you should contact the undersigned in the first instance. Should you remain dissatisfied, then you may apply for an internal review by contacting the Director of Information Exploitation, 6th Floor, MOD Main Building, Whitehall, SW1A 2HB (e-mail xxxxxxx@xxx.xx).
6. If you are still unhappy following an internal review, you may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner under the provisions of Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act. Please note that the Information Commissioner will not normally investigate your case until the MOD internal review process has been completed. Further details of the role and powers of the Information Commissioner can be found on the Commissioner's website, http://www.ico.gov.uk/
Yours sincerely,
James Ryan
