It was agreed at the meeting between Local Government and Liam Byrne MP, Minister for Borders and Immigration and Kevin Brennan MP, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Children, Young People and Families that the LGA will convene a full day session with DCSF and Home Office officials.

This will consider both issues around funding for UASC leaving care and special circumstances for 2006/07 by going through the detail of the claims and shortfalls.

The purpose of the meeting is to agree a position to be discussed by a reconvened meeting of Ministers and LGA and London Council Leaders.

The meeting will be chaired by John Ransford, Deputy Chief Executive of the LGA. We will aim to finish as early as possible, given this is the Friday before the Bank Holiday.
