Dear Requester
Re: Your request for information
I write in response to your correspondence, dated 17th November 2011.
As the information you requested is not personal or environmental it has been
processed in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I have investigated your request and the answers to your questions are as follows.
1. Are public meetings of the council and/or of its committees filmed or recorded
by the council in any way?
Nottingham City Council does not currently film or record any of its public
committee meetings, with the exception of full Council meetings where a tape
recording of the meeting is taken in order to facilitate the verbatim recording within
the minutes of the answers provided to Council and Public questions at the
meeting.
2. If yes, are these recordings available to members of the public?
No
.
3. If such recordings are not available please explain why.
The tape recording is not available as the responses to council and public
questions are available within the minutes of the meeting when they are published.
4. If no, does NCC have any plans or ongoing discussions about recording
meetings, or perhaps providing webcasts of such meetings?
The City Council is currently exploring the costs and implications of webcasting
council meetings.
5. Would NCC allow a member of the public to film or record one of the council's
public meetings?
In accordance with section 1 of this act this information cannot be provided as it is
not held by this authority. This would be a decision for the Chair of the meeting
concerned, who would generally take a view from his/her Committee members on
the matter before deciding on whether to allow filming or recording of a meeting.
6. Whatever the answer to #5, please provide any policy or internal guidance on
the issue. If the answer is no, please provide in addition any legal justification
for that view if one has been prepared.
In accordance with section 1 of this act this information cannot be provided as it is
not held by this authority. The system operates on the working precedent already
in place.
