Susan Davies
Dear Ms Davies,
RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
Road Verges - Ecological Protection Scheme
I am writing with regard to the information you requested under the Freedom of Information Act received in this department on 16th March 2009.
Information Requested
What protection measures a verge receives when it is included in the scheme.
The list of verges, covered by the scheme (and their locations - road name/number and six figure OS grid reference).
For each verge, the specific reasons why the verge has been included in the scheme - i.e. the notable species found there, or the NVC community present.
If you do not run a scheme in your area, but you are aware that another body does, please could you refer me to them instead.
Confirmation that the information is not currently held by the London Borough of Hounslow
Your enquiry was forwarded to Chris Slack (Senior Ecologist) who informed us that unfortunately, Hounslow Council and its parks and open spaces contractor: John Laing Integrated Services and Continental Landscapes do not run an ecological protection scheme for road verges situated within the borough. Also from our records none of the boroughs road verges are covered by an ecological protection scheme that is managed by an external source. As a result, we are unable to answer your questions highlighted above outlined within your request.
