FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: HC/02151/08
Your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act was received by the
Information Compliance Unit at Hampshire Constabulary on 27th June 2008. I note you seek
access to the following information:
• In consideration of public safety should controllers vote to strike over the
changes to their working hours and consequential loss of contractual overtime,
can the constabulary confirm that contingency plans are in place for the safe and
efficient operation of the Hampshire area 999 service?
• Will these include bringing in controllers from areas such as Thames Valley,
Merseyside, West Mercia or other forces, and can the public be assured that
their safety will not be jeopardised by Hampshire Constabulary using either
untrained personnel, or controllers from areas that use different systems to those
used by Hampshire controllers?
Your request will now be considered in accordance with the legislation and you will receive a
response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days, subject to the provisions of the Act.
In the unlikely event that Hampshire Constabulary is unable to meet the 20 working day
deadline, you will be informed as soon as possible and given a revised time-scale for
response.
If your request requires either full or partial transference to another public authority, you will be
informed.
