Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 – Provision of Information  
 
Thank you for your request for information.  I have dealt with this in accordance with 
the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and enclose the information you 
requested. 
 
The City of Edinburgh Council does not run an ecological protection scheme as such.  
There are no road verges designated as a Local Nature Conservation Site.  If it were 
suggested a road verge were valuable in biodiversity terms to warrant such a 
designation then it could be assessed to see if it were the case. 
 
The City of Edinburgh Councils Biodiversity plan 2004 – 2009 mentions roads as 
potential wildlife corridors.  The plan can be viewed on the Councils website 
www.edinburgh.gov.uk . 
 
If you are not happy with this response, or want to complain about the way in which 
we handled your application, please write to the Director of Corporate Services,

of receipt of this letter, seeking a review of the response.
