Dear Mr Ashby,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 9th March to the Ministry of Defence, in which you asked for the following information:
Military Hospitals that are still open as of March 2009 and also list the dates of closure of all other military hospitals. Also please indicate for hospitals which have closed what has become of them - have they been taken over by the NHS or private hospitals or been demolished.
The MOD retains two military hospitals (both overseas): the Princess Mary Hospital at Akrotiri, Cyprus, and the Princess Royal Medical Centre, Gibraltar.
The below table shows those military hospitals, both in the UK and overseas, that have closed during the last 30 years. Subsequent use is indicated where known.
