Subject: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 ENQUIRY
Dear S J S Jackson,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request of 5th March 2009.
In your request, you asked for:
A breakdown by gender, of staff working at the EHRC.
Detail of the current staff turnover broken down by gender.
If available, the current breakdown of staff (and / or current turnover of staff) in terms of disability, age, religion, sexual orientation and race.
Furthermore, you requested that if only some of these aspects are measured - or only in relation to new staff - the EHRC provide such details as are available.
In addition, you asked for comparative average pay figures for each of these criteria, as available.
Our response is as follows:
Annex 1
Attached to this letter, is a statistical breakdown of EHRC staff. This has been broken down by gender, disability, age, religion/belief, sexual orientation, ethnicity and also by gender pay gap. This document also shows the breakdown in comparison to the general population (*Sourced from Office of National Statistics (ONS) data compiled from the 2001 Census results).
Please note that it has not been possible to provide all the details you have requested. This is due to the EHRC's requirement to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and has arisen from concerns about being able to potentially identify individuals (by the small numbers involved). Furthermore, this is also due to difficulty with historical data that impacts on our ability to provide information such as turnover figures.
We hope this has answered your request fully.
