[FOI #8555 email]
Our Ref: 11792
Date: 7 August 2009
Dear Mr Reith,
I am writing further to S John’s letter dated 5 June 2009, regarding your
Freedom of Information request about the suspension from duty of the former
Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police John Stalker in 1986,
and his removal from what was commonly known as the "shoot to kil " inquiry
in Northern Ireland.
I must first take this opportunity to apologise for the extensive delay that has
occurred in responding to your original request. Responsibility for this has
now been passed to me, and is being dealt with as a matter of urgency.
I am now aiming to provide you with a final response by 4 September 2009. I
realise that this additional extension might be disappointing to you, however I
would like to assure you that this has now been escalated as a priority matter.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding this
letter or the handling of the case in general.
Yours sincerely,
John Bragaglia
