Dear Mr. Moore

Freedom of Information Request 53837

I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your request was:

Please can I have:

- A copy of this 1997 Cycle Strategy

- All subsequent documents which directly relate or discuss this

strategy

Please find attached a copy of the document and its appendices, adopted by the City Council in 1997.  The appendices outline the routes for the city's cycle network.

I have also attached a review of the City's cycle policy - Bicycle Policy Audit 2003-5.

Further information on the Local Transport Plan and Appendix 4: Merseyside Cycling Strategy adopted in 2005 can be found at www.LetsTravelWise.org/50 - these documents can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.  The Merseyside Strategy has an action plan to achieve the LTP target of increasing the number of cycling trips by 10% by 2011.  This target is now what the City Council, together with the other Local Transport Plan partners, is working towards.

I trust that this information satisfies your enquiry,

Yours sincerely

Carl Winstanley
