CONDUCT
Code of Conduct
Your conduct will be governed by the Code of Conduct issued with Guidance on Police Unsatisfactory Performance, Complaints and Misconduct Procedures. A copy is attached.
DATA PROTECTION/INFORMATION SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES (PIPELINE Ref nos D51104 and D61195)
Your work for Lancashire Constabulary may involve the handling of information, some of which is very sensitive. You are therefore required to comply with all aspects of Data Protection legislation and corporate policy/procedures about information security. This means you should only access the information you need to do the job for which you are employed. Obviously if you change your job your requirements for access to certain information may change.
You must always consider security when disclosing or `using' information owned by the Constabulary in any of the following ways:
collecting;
obtaining;
viewing;
using;
altering;
arranging;
browsing;
destroying.
You are also responsible for the integrity of any information that you may input to Constabulary systems. This means that you should always try to make sure that information is accurate, relevant and worded professionally. You must never knowingly disclose information to anyone who is not authorised to receive it and you should never use or disclose information for personal reasons or personal gain.
In line with the Constabulary Incident Reporting Procedures you have a responsibility to report any incident or occurrence that you become aware of where there is potential for a breach of information security or a breach of the law relating to data protection.
The Constabulary provides guidance about compliance with data protection and information security and you are personally responsible for complying with all Constabulary policies and procedures relating to information security and data protection. Every member of staff will be issued with a booklet explaining the implications associated with these areas and individual responsibilities. You are responsible for ensuring that you comply with the information provided in these booklets and seeking further advice where appropriate.
