Dear Ms. Dewsbury

Re: Your request for information

Thank you for your email 25th February 2009. As the information you requested is not
personal or environmental it has been processed in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

Initially, I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the substantial delay in
responding to your request. This was due to a clerical error within this section. Please
be assured we are currently carrying out a thorough review of all our office
procedures to minimise the possibility of any future delays. Nottingham City Council
takes its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act very seriously indeed and
we are disappointed that, on this occasion, we have not been able to provide the level
of service that is expected.

I have investigated your request and the answers to your questions are as follows.

1.  The number of people who registered as homeless in total in 2008.

781

2.  The total amount of funds allocated for any cause related to homelessness
throughout all of the council's departments in 2008.

£17,482,411.00

For clarification, we have taken ‘cause’ to include any project, programme or
service that relates to homelessness. For your information, this authority spent
£7,988,501.00 of the above figure specifically on homelessness ‘causes’, as
defined above, in 2008
