| Introduction | |||||||
| The purpose of this document is to present the Midlands fieldwork data which was collected as part of the NAO asylum costing workstream. This document supports the overall cost model and final report produced by Accenture as part of the NAO study into the value for money of asylum. The findings in this document came through a number of workshops with staff from the Solihull office in the Midlands who worked on different parts of the asylum process. Follow-up meetings were also held to capture the non-regional parts of the process such as screeing, routing and assisted voluntary return and to validate the findings. In total 12 different applicant profiles were created, 2 applied only to Detained Fast Track and 10 that apply to the regional visits: - Single Adult Undetained - grant at initial decision - Single Adult Undetained - grant after appeal - Single Adult Undetained - AVR exit after 2nd appeal - Single Adult Undetained - enforced removal exit after ARE - Family Undetained - grant at initial decision - Family Undetained - grant after appeal - Family Undetained - AVR exit after 2nd appeal - Family Undetained - enforced removal after ARE - Unaccompanied Minor - grant at initial decision - Unaccompanied Minor – refusal, appeal and then LTR The sheets in the following pages highlight the different activities completed in the asylum process, the level of staff who completes the activity and a lower and upper end estimate of the time taken to complete each task. For the purposes of this work, the following assumptions were made: - There will not be any significant changes in circumstances for the applicant e.g. medical complications, being arrested etc - A family case consists of one adult and two children - The applicant does not launch any judicial reviews | |||||||
