FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 001042/08

I write in connection with your request for information dated 22/06/2008, which was received by Greater Manchester Police on 23/06/2008, for the following information:

Could you please provide the following information, based upon the latest available 12 monthly period data.

  1. The number of police vehicles involved in collisions whilst on duty.

  2. The number of police vehicles involved in collisions whilst attending an

emergency call.

  1. The numbers of deaths resultant from Items 1 and 2 above.

  2. The number of non-death injuries resultant from items 1 and 2 above.

Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within Greater Manchester Police to locate information relevant to your request. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Greater Manchester Police.

Result Of Searches

Presently, the information requested at questions 1,2,3 & 4 are not held in an easily retrievable format and would require the manual searching of a number of Road Traffic Collision data. Your request exceeds, the `appropriate level' as stated in the Freedom Of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004 and is refused.

To satisfy s16 of the Freedom of Information Act, in providing assistance, I can confirm that a total of 855 Police Vehicle involved accidents were recorded for the financial year 2007/08.
