78 Bus Route Consultation Report Publication

Nick Burton made this Freedom of Information request to Transport for London

The request was successful.

From: Nick Burton

9 December 2011

Dear Transport for London,

Further to previous correspondence and requests for information,
including an assurance by TfL that the outcome would be published
in a week - on 25 November - we are now making the following FOI
request.

When will the outcome report be published?

How will it be circulated to residents of Ansdell Road to ensure
that everyone receives a copy?

If it will not be published before 16 December 2011, please provide
all correspondence, meeting notes, agendas and minutes regarding
TfL's discussions on the consultation, report and outcomes for the
78 bus route since the consultation end date.

One additional query on a related matter:

Are bus drivers obliged to obey speed limits set?
What are the potential consequences for bus drivers who do not obey
the speed limits?
What actions, checks and/or controls does TfL have in place to
ensure that bus drivers obey speed limits?

Yours faithfully,

Ansdell Road Residents

Dear Mr Burton

TfL ref:  FOI-1197-1112

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9
December 2011 asking for information about the 78 Bus Route Consultation
Report.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and TfL’s information access policy. I can confirm
that TfL does hold the information you require.

Further to previous correspondence and requests for information, including
an assurance by TfL that the outcome would be published in a week - on 25
November - we are now making the following FOI request.  When will the
outcome report be published?  How will it be circulated to residents of
Ansdell Road to ensure that everyone receives a copy?

If it will not be published before 16 December 2011, please provide all
correspondence, meeting notes, agendas and minutes regarding TfL's
discussions on the consultation, report and outcomes for the 78 bus route
since the consultation end date.

One additional query on a related matter: Are bus drivers obliged to obey
speed limits set? What are the potential consequences for bus drivers who
do not obey

the speed limits? What actions, checks and/or controls does TfL have in
place to ensure that bus drivers obey speed limits?

Transport for London consulted stakeholders and the public between 17 July
and 19 August 2011 about possible changes to route 78 in the Nunhead area.
To formally complete the consultation process, TfL contacted all those who
responded to the consultation and provided their email address. The email
confirmed the decision, set out the timescale for the change and provided
a link to the TfL website and consultation report and response to issues
raised documents.  TfL published the results of this consultation and our
response to issues raised on 22 December 2011. To view the consultation
report and response to issues raised, please visit
[1]https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/r...

As the result were published shortly after 16 December, we have assumed
that you do not additionally require copies of any correspondence, meeting
notes etc. However if you do wish for this part of your request to be
reconsidered, please let me know.

TfL has discussed the outcome of the consultation with both Southwark
Council and Lewisham Council to ensure they are content with the scheme.
The comments received have helped inform our decision making process.

We are planning to implement this change from 3 March 2012. This allows
time for a new schedule to be written and a new bus stop location to be
investigated and implemented on Lausanne Road.

With regard to your additional query, I can confirm that bus drivers must
follow the Highway code, and therefore they are obliged to follow speed
limits.

Speed checks are carried out by the bus operators, however if a bus driver
is found to have exceeded speed limits by the police, the sanctions are
the same as those that apply to any other driver.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
