Thank you for your recent request for
an internal review of the handling of my FOI request 'Conflict of
Interest'. Valerie Howarth, Chair of the Cafcass Board, has now carried out the internal review and the
conclusions of the review are set out below:
Internal Review – S Smith Freedom of Information Request
There is no specific procedure within Cafcass preventing a worker from taking on a piece of work in a
Local Authority where they worked previously. Cafcass cannot provide information that it does not
hold.
If the requestee has a specific issue it would be helpful for Cafcass to know as it will enable us to look
at this again in relation to current best practice, which involves a manager reviewing any issue on a
case-by-case basis. Further information from the requestee to inform our thinking would be welcome.
