Proposed EETS Vehicle Categories
The vehicle classification parameters shall leave open the choice of clarification schemes by Toll Chargers. Vehicle classification parameters can be stored by EETS providers, alleviating the need for on-site measurement. Toll Chargers decide how to use the vehicle classification parameters to determine the tariff class.
Vehicle classification parameters shall recognise the following European Motor Vehicle Groups
Group 0: Motorcycles and other motor vehicles with less than four wheels, corresponding to type approval directive1 category L.
Group 1: Small Passenger Vehicles corresponding to type approval directive vehicle category M1.
Group 2: Light Goods Vehicles (weight under 3.5 tonnes), corresponding to type approval directive vehicle category N1.
Group 3: Large Passenger Vehicles corresponding to type approval directive vehicle categories M2 and M3.
Group 4: Heavy Goods Vehicles (above 3.5 tonnes and under 12 tonnes) corresponding to type approval directive vehicle category N2.
Group 5: Heavy Goods Vehicles (above 12 tonnes), corresponding to type approval directive vehicle category N3.
Group 6: For future use. This group is not yet used.
Group 7: Others (ie. Any vehicle not falling into Groups 0 to 5).
