20 February 2009

Dear Mr Thackeray

Thank you for your enquiry of 6 February. In answer to your questions:

a): The Museum has not, to the best of its knowledge, received any gifts, hospitality or donations from Scientology organisations and not from those organisations listed in your email.

b): The band `Jive Aces' was booked in November 2006 by the BBC for a Children in Need event. The Museum was not involved in the booking. The Museum is aware that the band members are Scientologists.

When booking performers for Museum events, staff ensure that they are appropriate for the Museum and that they have any relevant health and safety documentation. In addition, Criminal Record Bureau checks are carried out where necessary (for example for performers working directly with children or vulnerable adults).

Yours sincerely

Sarah Henning
