Thank you for your e-mail 4^th February 2009 in which you clarified your previous request to us and sought information, as detailed below, from the Ministry of Justice.

Please provide a list of all gifts, hospitality or donations supplied to HMCS by Scientology organisations, over the past 5 years.

I would like to restrict my request to the following courts: High Court of Justice, Court of Appeal, SHERIFFDOM OF GRAMPIAN HIGHLAND AND ISLANDS AT ABERDEEN, LONDON TRIBUNAL CENTRE

Your request has been passed to me because I have responsibility for answering requests, which relate to Her Majesty's Courts Service (HMCS). HMCS is an executive agency of the MoJ and is responsible for managing the magistrates' courts, the Crown Court, county courts, the High Court and Court of Appeal in England and Wales. Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

As I have outlined above I can only supply information with regard to magistrates' courts, the Crown Court, county courts, the High Court and Court of Appeal in England and Wales. To obtain information regarding courts and offices in Scotland you would need to contact the following office:

With regard to your request covering the London Tribunal Centre, I would seek clarification over this. Do you mean the whole of the Tribunal Service or a specific Tribunal Office?

Within your request to them it may be advisable to be specific with regard to the location you are seeking the information about.

With regard to your request regarding the High Court I can confirm that there are no entries in the High Court Gift and Hospitality Register relating to gifts, hospitality or donations having been received, (or offered), by Scientology Organisations. (Our records go back 3 years).

As part of our obligations under the FOIA, the MoJ has an independent review process. If you are dissatisfied with this decision, you may write to request an internal review. The internal review will be carried out by someone who did not make the original decision, and they will re-assess how HMCS handled the original request.
