Release of Information notice

Thank you for your email dated 3^rd February 2009 requesting information, under the Freedom of Information Act, relating Councillors email facilities.

East Northamptonshire Council confirms that it holds the following information which is available to you under the Freedom of Information Act. The information is listed below:

1. Does your Council provide councillors with an email facility which allows them to receive and send email using your council's email address?

Yes

2. If you do have such a facility are councillors able to access the system from their home or other remote location?

Yes. Via secure remote access channel.

3. Does your council allow email sent to councillors to be auto-forwarded to unsecure external email addresses such as hotmail?

Currently yes, but will be changed in the near future to comply with Government Connect regulations.

4. If auto-forwarding is allowed how many of your councillors are having their email auto-forwarded?

Currently 25 of the total of 40 Councillors have their email automatically forwarded to their own personal email accounts. As indicated in point 2 though, we shall shortly be enforcing a stricter security policy meaning this will not be possible.

The Council confirms that it does not hold any other information specific to your request which is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act.
