Our reference: FOI 256946

Dear Alex Skene,

I am writing in response to your e-mail of 16 June in which you requested information, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, on -

  1. the Honours Scrutiny Committee and details of their publication scheme and a contact email address to send FOI requests to;

  1. a copy of the terms of reference for the Committee; and

  1. a copy of the related order of the Council dated October 18 2002 as cited in Hansard.

I have considered your request in light of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

In answer to your first question, the responsibilities of the Honours Scrutiny Committee have been transferred to the House of Lords Appointments Commission. The Commission's publication scheme is on its website: www.lordsappointments.gov.uk and it is via the publications menu. FOI requests can be sent to: [email address].

With regards to your second question, the Commission does not have any formal terms of reference as it is non-statutory. It was invited to take on the role by the Prime Minister.

Thirdly, we do not have a copy of the Order in Council. You could write to the Privy Council Office at: 2 Carlton Gardens, London SW1Y 5AA who may be able to help you.

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request or wish to request an internal review, you should write to:
