THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE

AREA Z (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 1993

(AMENDMENT NO.16A) ORDER 1998

Cambridge City Council ("the Council") in pursuance of arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Cambridgeshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 19, 32, 35, 63, and 64 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act of 1984") (as amended) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984 hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order shall come into operation for all purposes on the 2nd day of January 1999 and may be cited as The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1993 (Amendment No.16A) Order 1998

2. In this Order the expression "the Order of 1991" shall mean The City of Cambridge Area Z (Consolidation) Order 1991 and any reference to the Order of 1991 shall be construed as a reference to that Order as varied or amended.

3. In this Order the expression the Order of 1993" shall mean The County of Cambridgeshire (Northern Historic City Centre, Cambridge)(Pedestrian Zone and Peripheral Streets) Order 1993 and any reference to the Order of 1993 shall be construed as a reference to that Order as varied or amended.

4. The Order of 1991 shall be amended and have effect as though the following additions were made to Article 142:

(q) a motor vehicle being used by or on behalf of a zone permit holder as defined in the Order of 1993 and which displays in the relevant position a zone permit as defined in the Order of 1993 or a public service vehicle being used at any time by a zone permit holder for the provision of a free bus service and which is travelling in a southerly direction for the purposes of egress from the roads and lengths of road specified in Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Order of 1993

5. The Order of 1993 shall be amended and have effect as though in Article 36 for the words:

(ii) a pedal cycle proceeding in a cycle lane

were substituted the following words:

(ii) a pedal cycle proceeding in a southerly direction and which passes on the east side of the traffic island or a pedal cycle proceeding in a northerly direction and which passes on the west side of the traffic island

6. The County of Cambridgeshire (Northern Historic City Centre, Cambridge) (Pedestrian Zone and Peripheral Streets) Variation Traffic Order 1995 shall be amended and have effect as though in Schedule 3 for the words:

Senate House Hill from its junction with St. Marys Street in a southerly direction for a distance of 6.7 metres

were substituted the following words:

Senate House Hill from its junction with St. Marys Street in a southerly direction for a distance of 27 metres

7. The County of Cambridgeshire (Northern Historic City Centre, Cambridge) (Pedestrian Zone and Peripheral Streets) Order 1993 shall be amended and have effect as though the following addition was made to Part 2 of Schedule 1:

(from its junction with

St. Marys Street in a

southerly direction for

a distance of 27 metres)

8. The County of Cambridgeshire (Northern Historic City Centre, Cambridge) (Pedestrian Zone and Peripheral Streets) Order 1993 shall be amended and have effect as though in Schedule 3 for the words:

Senate House Hill At a point 6.7 metres south of its junction with St. Marys Street

were substituted the words:

Senate House Hill At a point 27 metres south of its junction with St. Marys Street
