FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST
REQUEST NUMBER: F-2009-00482
REQUEST DETAILS:
“ I am requesting certain documents that you may have detailing force
policy and procedure in the management and review of police injury
award pensions prior to the year 2004..”
RESPONSE:
Suffolk Constabulary currently have no policies of procedures relating to injury on duty pension. We follow the regulation and Home Office guidelines.
Officers who have retired and been granted an IOD award are reviewed at regular intervals ranging between 6 months and 5 years.
Timescales for review are determined in conjunction with Occupational Health.
Prior to 2004, Officers were reviewed until such a time that Occupational Health recommended reviews were no longer required.
Although some degree of disablement may have been reduced, it is fair to say that some would have been maintained above the lowest banding.
That position changed around 2002 in respect of new retirements and since 2004 we have implemented the Home Office guidance in relation to the terms for review and comparative earnings.
