Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”) dated 9 
June 2008 for the following information: 
 
Please send me copies of any correspondence, during the past 12 months, between the Chair of the 
BBC Trust to the BBC’s Director General regarding bbc.co.uk and its future strategic direction & 
management. 
 
On 26 June we wrote to you to clarify your request and determine whether you wished to 
proceed.  You responded on 21 July confirming that you would like your request to proceed 
on the basis that the request would be dealt with by the BBC’s Information Policy & 
Compliance Team with oversight from the BBC Trust and liaison with the BBC’s Director-
General’s Office.  
 
We have undertaken a search for correspondence between Sir Michael Lyons, the Chairman 
of the BBC Trust and Mr Mark Thompson, the BBC Director-General and can confirm that 
we hold a letter written by Sir Michael Lyons in May 2008.  A copy of this letter is attached
