Subject: Freedom of Information Request |
Dear Mr. Knight
Thank you for your request for information which was received at our offices on 27 January 2009. Your request has been processed under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. We have liaised with our partners Urban Vision in order to respond to your request. Our response is as follows:-
Would you confirm that you are the responsible authority for the maintenance and upkeep of the lighting fixtures along your boundary side of the River Irwell (from Regent Road through to and including near to Pomona Tram station. If not, who is?
Salford City Council are responsible for the lighting from near Exchange Quay to Regent Road. Trafford MBC are responsible for the lighting on the other side of the river leading to Pomona Tram Station
How often are they checked to be in working order. Because of the remote location, for health and safety reasons the lighting is not inspected by our night inspection team. Maintenance regimes are being planned and it is envisaged that the lighting would be visited at least once per year.
Number of reports of damaged/non functioning lights in the last year. The lighting team has recently taken over the management of this lighting and are in the process of setting up the assets in our inventory data base to record such details. Therefore we have no records for last year.
Number of outstanding faults awaiting repairs. Salford City Council have carried out an initial inspection and identified that there are approximately 25 outstanding repairs.
The time it has taken to repair the lights These lights, in many cases, require a complete overhaul and it will necessary to order replacement spares. The lead in time for the delivery of the spares is four to six weeks As soon as the materials are received arrangements will be made with our contractor to carry out the repairs
