FCO Freedom of Information request ref. 0482-09: Annex 2

On 8 September 2004, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Baroness Symons met then Vice Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert. Paragraph 7 of the record of the meeting states:

“The Foreign Secretary raised the British Gas bid. Olmert said the proposal had been considered on its merits but had been the highest cost of all bids received. Baroness Symons asked if the tender process would be reopened if a deal with AIP was not clinched soon. Olmert undertook to check where matters stood.”
