I write in response to your email requesting a review under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act
2002 the following:

“I am requesting an internal review of the following request: Could I obtain the number of people who

chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropenia in 2008?”

This request was received outside the 40 day time limit for review, however, NHS Forth Valley is
happy to provide a response to your enquiry.

I have reviewed your request and can confirm the following, while it is the case that the exemption for
excessive costs be can be applied here.

Section 25 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act – otherwise accessible.

This information is available on a Scotland wide basis via Scottish Morbidity Records which are held

Diagnoses are recorded using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD10). Neutropenia
belongs to the classification D70, this grouping includes drug induced but this grouping does not
uniquely identify chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropenia.

1.  Total number admitted with diagnosis code D70 = 13
2.  Total number of patients admitted who died with diagnosis code D70 = less than 3
