Dear Rob
RE: FoI request for information
On the 16th January you requested the following information, using the Freedom of
Information Act.
Could I obtain the number of people who were diagnosed with febrile
neutropenia and the number of deaths due to febrile neutropenia for 2008?
Clarification was requested off you on the 19/01/2009 stating:
Before proceeding with this request, can you please clarify the geographical
area covered by you request e.g. Area covered by NHS Plymouth?
NHS Plymouth has still not received any response to our request for clarification.
We’ve therefore looked into this request purely by information held by NHS
Plymouth.
NHS Plymouth is in accordance with the Act supplying the following information.
In accordance with section 1(1)(a) of the Act, NHS Plymouth does not hold any of
the information stated in your request. Febrile neutropenia as a separate condition is
not clinically coded on any of our medical databases, and therefore not linked to
diagnosis or cause of death. Links to febrile neutropenia may be noted on a patient’s
individual medical record, but to look into all records would breach both Data
Protection principles and exceed the 18 hour limit as stated in section 12(a) of the
Act.
