Data requested: Number of people diagnosed with febrile neutropenia

Deaths due to febrile neutropenia in 2008

As above for those receiving chemotherapy

Thank you for you request for the information as summarised above. I am writing to update you on the current situation with view to finding this data as requested.

The 2008 Death dataset is now available and following analysis of the dataset I can confirm that the number of deaths from febrile neutropenia during this time period is very low and as such that I cannot give you the exact figure as it would be potentially identifiable information and is deemed exempt under Section 40 (1) of the FOI Act. Currently this information is not matched against the timing of any chemotherapy.

Work is underway to estimate the number of admissions for febrile neutropenia during the corresponding time period.

I will write again when that information is available.
