Dear Mr Manderson
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 000854/08
I write in connection with your request for information dated 27/05/2008, which was received by Greater Manchester Police on 27/05/2008. I note you seek access to the following information:
How many arrests occurred inside or directly around the City of Manchester Stadium and Old Trafford during their EPL home fixtures. Each team played 19 home matches (38 in total).
"Football Related" offences are just something which would not have occurred if the match had not been played. For example, arresting an individual inside the City of Manchester stadium for a breach of the peace.
As for the Rangers/Zenit Fixture - I simply require to know how many arrests were made because of the Zenit/Rangers supporters that were in the City. Offences at this would include the rioting that took place in the street.
Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within Greater Manchester Police to locate information relevant to your request. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Greater Manchester Police.
For the season 2007/08 the number of arrests in or around Manchester United's and Manchester City's stadiums are as follows:
Manchester United - 75
Manchester City - 56
During the Rangers v Zenit St Petersburg match between the hours 0700 14th May 2008 and 0700 15th May 2008 39 arrests were made.
