West Dunbartonshire Council received your request for information on 27 May 2008 relating to the following topic. You wrote:
What is the rate of recycling in West Dunbartonshire and,
What measures does WDC plan on taking to increase this figure?
We hold information requested by you and list it below to you under the terms of this Freedom of Information request:
The unaudited recycling performance of West Dunbartonshire Council for 2007/08 is 32.3%. This has still to be ratified by SEPA who are the auditing body for waste recycling under The Landfill Allowances Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2005.
Waste and Transport Services will be operating a pilot fortnightly collection service for dry recyclate at 12000 households, from August 2008 until January 2009. The pilot scheme will allow the Council to assess the viability of rolling an enhanced recycling programme out to all relevant households to increase recycling performance.
